Spring is in the air!

Prairie Crocus

Gordon, the owner and founder of White Mountain Adventures spotted one of the first prairie crocusesanemone patens”  in his backyard. Every year these flowers are one of the first patches in the Bow Valley, representing the start of springtime. They are now in full bloom.  To learn more about wildflowers native to the region, Neil Jennings has published guide books to help connect Albertans with nature.

Despite a world pandemic that has forever changed the world and our lives, nature is thriving. Usually at this time of year, we are busy in the office prepping for the summer and our multi-day trips. Our days are now spent rewriting protocols on how we are going to run our trips differently and keep our guests safe.

It will be a different kind of summer in the Canadian Rockies. We will see a huge decrease in international travel. With travel restrictions in place and the uncertainty of the near future, we hope to see lots of Canadians explore our own spectacular country (without the typical summer crowds).

Just like the flowers, we will bloom again. So, thank you prairie crocuses for providing us with a gentle reminder that there will always be new beginnings.
